SEND HUSTINGS - EVENING

Thursday 24 March 2022
18:45 to 21:00

We are inviting registered political parties to nominate a representative, who is standing for election in Sutton in the May 2022 local elections, to join our Hustings panel.  We will be asking what their policies on SEND will be if they are elected and how they will support Sutton parent/carers and our children and young people with SEND.  We hope lots of you will attend to hear their responses and to ask your own questions of the panel

The panel is now confirmed:

Lib Dems Ruth Dombey, Conservatives Tom Drummond, Labour Paul McCarthy, Sutton Independent Residents Tim Foster

Steering Group Questions sent to the panel

The Council’s vision is that they are Ambitious for SEND. What does this mean to each of you in practical terms and how would you implement this?

As per the HMI’s observations in the Ofsted revisit letter, how do you plan to rebuild parental trust? How would you ensure effective and meaningful engagement with Sutton parent carers to do this?

If elected, how would you see the role of Cognus? How do you see the relationship between Cognus and the Local Authority moving forward?

23.3.22 There are now 5 prospective candidates, from acrooss the Borough, attending in the audience on Thursday, to better understand the issues we face in Sutton for our SEND children and young adults.
